Every Living Thing Matters

I’m not a pastor. I’m not one to rise up or stand against. I’m not a teacher. I’m just a mother. A mother who fears her children to grow up in today’s world. I recognize the evil that resides and admit I honestly fear for my babies and what they will be exposed to along with wondering what the world with become in just a few short years. My God tells me not to fear and that’s my battle to deal with.

James 4:1-2 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

Have we asked our God how to deal with the scenarios that have been laid before us this week? Or have we turned to our worldly emotions and hate the evil doers?

The moment you choose sides, you divide. You let evil win. We live in a fallen world, one that will continue to experience evil and evil will live amongst us until our Jesus comes back.  One where we chose free will in the beginning so we endure the fallout. I am so saddened that we continue to have such a brokenness with race, with love, with unity and I would never want to discount one side or another, but this must be stopped. There is true hatred in our world, but not shown and lived by all. Which means no more taking sides, no more sitting in our sorrow of the past, no more crying for attention to feel a worldly love.

What I feel many people forget in such a tragic week like this is, God loves his followers, the same as he loves a sinner. God comforts the broken and mourns with lives lost but continues to tug at the hearts of those consumed by evil. To God, every living, breathing thing matters. Which means, why react against a race because of one individual or terrorize a force because of incident unrelated to the now innocent victims?

Why do we continue to perpetuate the stereotypes and let ourselves believe they penetrate everyone. What will you choose today? Will you choose to be like Jesus? Not side with black or blue? Will you choose to love the sinner as he does? It is the only road that will bring us closer together.

There are not many words that can properly be said in a time like this accept, Come Lord Jesus, Come.
